FAULT FINDING, BREAKDOWNS & REPAIRS

Our aim is to make our customers heating systems and appliances as reliable and dependable as they can be.  However in case of a breakdown or fault, we're on hand and ready to help.

With over 30 years experience in fault finding and repair we strive to not only identify the fault in a timely manner but also the route cause of the fault to help prevent it's recurrance.

We keep our appointments

We strive to repond promptly to our customers, working flexible hours to best suit them, no one wants to be waiting days for a repair, or have to wait in all day for an engineer to call, so we aim to provide as an accurate a time for appointments as we practically can.  We can even give you a call or text when we're on our way.

We hold our own extensive stock of spare parts

In order to help reduce the time it takes to get you up and running again, we hold our own extensive stocks of replacement boiler parts. If we don't have your required part, we search our suppliers and the general market to provide you a choice of the best value, quality parts obtainable.

SYSTEM BALANCING

Many of the homes we visit for the first time are found to have a badly balanced heating system.

A heating system should be balanced, with the correct flow through each radiator to ensure that they all operate efficiently.  We often hear reports from new customers that they have radiators that rarely get warm whilst others are piping hot, a badly balanced system may not only cause uneven heating in rooms, but prevent the boiler from operating efficiently.

What is system balancing?

System balancing is the adjustment of the boiler setting and the water flow through each radiator or underfloor heating circuit to ensure that they deliver the optimum amount of heat to a room.

This is achieved by measuring and adjusting the heat delivered by each radiator or underfloor heating circuit.

We often find that the flow of water through one or more radiators is far too high, not only meaning that others in the heating system are deprived of flow, but the water returning to the boiler is too hot to allow the boiler to operate in its efficient condensing mode.

What are the benefits?

A properly balanced heating system provides even heating to every radiator or underfloor heating circuit, so each radiator heats up quickly, it also ensures the boiler can operate at higher efficiency, helping reduce your gas bill.

How long does it take?

Balancing the heating system of a typical house with 10 radiators (8 underfloor heating curcuits) will take between 1.5 and 2 hours.  Because no two systems are the same or require the same amount of adjustment, we normally charge balancing by the quarter hour capped at a maximum agreed cost.

POWER FLUSHING

Most heating systems contain components made from cast iron or steel, the internal surfaces of these components react with the water inside your heating system causing corrosion.

Corrosion can be reduced by the addition of special "corrosion inhibitor" chemicals unfortunately the corrosion inhibitor chemicals have a limited capacity to reduce corrosion which inevitably occurs.  The heavy oxides turn the water in a heating system brown then black, they stick to the inside surfaces of the boiler, pipework and radiators.  The black oxides, called magnetite, build up over time and settle in the form of sludge at the bottom of radiators and pipes.  Inside the boiler, the sludge hardens and can solidify, slowly blocking the waterways.

The heating industry reports that sludge and desposits cost homeowners in the UK approximately £700 million each year in repair bills.

Power flsuhing is a method of removing the corrosion and sludge from inside a heating system.  A specialised high powered pump is used to force a chemical solution though each part of the system, the chemicals break down the sludge and the pump filters and removes it.  Finally the system can be flushed and filled with clean water and new corrosion inhibitors added.

What are the benefits?

The removal of sludge and oxide layers allows improved conduction of heat inside the boiler and out of radiators improving efficiency and reducing your heating bills.  The removal of sludge from pipework restores or improves flow.   The removal of desposits from inside the boiler itself can extend the boilers useful life, by preventing blockages and the seizing of moving parts and by reducing internal stresses.

Homeowners report a range of benefits including faster, more even heat from radiators, reduced noise from their radiator valves and boiler, reduced gas bills and fewer breakdowns.

How long does it take?

The amount of power flushing a heating system requires will depend on the amount of sludge and deposits within the system, the number of radiators and the extent of any blockages, a typical house with 10 radiators can typically take a full day to power flush,

Because no two systems require the same amount of flushing, we normally charge by the hour capped at a maximum agreed cost and with a minimum charge to cover the cost of the chemicals used..

DID YOU KNOW?

A modern condensing boiler cannot operate in its condensing mode if the water flowing into it exceeds 55 degrees centigrade?

A badly balanced heating system could be adding up to 10% to your heating bill.
